Bate's Lovely Silver Lace
Lacey is more than “just a dog”, she is my constant companion, a true best friend. Have you heard the expression “heart dog” mentioned if someone says they can never replace a certain dog because the dog feels like a once in a lifetime dog, whom they call their heart dog?
Well, Lacey has the attributes many people look for in a foundation female for their kennel---she is sired by a UKC champion, she is gorgeous, big yet gentle, and she has some nice bloodlines behind her. Standard Poodles were originally developed as water retrievers but in many bloodlines, this trait seems to have totally disappeared.
Lacey likes the water, but Lacey swims like a lady! She tests the water, gently going in toe by toe…she does not just go rushing and splashing into the water like a 4 year old kid! She is more like a prissy young lady, taking the time to feel the water between her toes as she gently wades in. Lacey is amazing to watch in her human-like behaviors. but, on the other hand, balls she cannot resist—she will fetch a ball as long as your arm can hold up to keep throwing it! Many dog trainers will tell you that ball drive is something they look for in a trainable dog. I don’t know how ball and prey drive translate into intelligence, but Lacey also is smart when exhibiting her prey drive. She will leap up to catch a bird and then fetch it to me, or simply come alongside me and hold on to it until I tell her to release it.
Lacey has passed her Canine Good Citizen’s testing (CGC)
Lacey is now fully retired from breeding and has been spayed she will remain with me for the rest of her life.
